Perhaps at no other time in history has the importance of the United Negro College Fund's work been as great as it is today. In the coming years, educated minorities will play a critical role in the effort to keep America competitive and strong. The Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. is a lasting example of the vision and leadership potential to be found in these institutions. This country needs another King, so please give generously to the United Negro College Fund.
Founded in 1944, the United Negro College Fund is a consortium of 39 private, historically black colleges and universities. Each year UNCF conducts national and local appeals to raise general operating funds and scholarship dollars in support of these institutions, which enroll some 65,000 students. We also support students at other historically black colleges and universities. UNCF manages more than 450 programs through which we provide students with scholarships; arrange internships, research opportunities and study abroad experiences; and pair students with mentors.
