We Are All of the Above

In the tradition of "Helping People Help Themselves" the Black United Fund of Illinois (BUFI), Inc. has been all of the above by providing funding and technical assistance to over 450 non-profit grassroots organizations that are dedicated to the improvement of the quality of life in the communities.

Since 1986, the Black United Fund of Illinois has developed and implemented systematic mechanisms that are designed to encourage individuals at every economic level to set aside a portion of their own resources (i.e., ideas, money, supplies, skills, and time) to support economic development, alternative education projects, arts and culture, health and human services, social justice, legal services, research and emergency needs.
