The American Cancer Society Offers Hope, Progress, and Answers in the Fight Against Cancer.

Approximately 59,900 Illinois residents will be diagnosed with cancer in 2004. The Illinois Division of the American Cancer Society is working to fund cancer research to find a cure; provide education to prevent cancer and detect it early; advocate to enact laws that will impact cancer incidence and mortality; and provide community services that benefit everyone touched by cancer.

The American Cancer Society offers hope to those that need it most:

  • Call 1-800-ACS-2345 or visit www.cancer.org 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for comprehensive information about cancer and cancer resources in your town. Assistance is available in any language.

The American Cancer Society is making progress toward a cure for all cancers:

  • Scientific breakthroughs funded by the American Cancer Society save thousands of lives each year and bring us closer to a cure.
  • Thirty-two American Cancer Society researchers have gone on to win the Nobel Prizes - the highest award for scientific achievement.
